Peter Rogan offers some illuminating insights into personal styles which will help you understand people and why they might become difficult, and some powerful techniques for keeping people positive, and constructively challenging any difficult behaviours. These insights will provide you with a powerful set of ideas and tools for dealing with difficult people and situations.
Peter argues that it is necessary to "understand people and why they might become difficult" in order to deal with them. He offers "a model that gives you some powerful insights that will really help you understand people better, and know how best to work with different types".
Peter describes four main behavioural styles that people have arguing that some are more prominent in some people than in others and may occur in different combinations, accounting for the great diversity of styles we are likely to encounter. The four main styles are:
• Dominance
• Influence
• Steadiness
• Compliance
(It’s called the ‘DISC’ model, for obvious reasons!)
This allows us spot different types, understand what is driving their behaviour (and our own of course) and gives us insights that allow us to choose behaviours that will help manage our relationships with others better.
